FOOD FOR THE SOUL. Maura was busy today so I set out to go on a New Orleans food and flavor adventure by myself. I woke up this morning and had some fiber cereal with a banana and then snuck back in bed. After a couple of hours I made myself get up and went on a 30 minute run around the neighborhood. Yesterday it was rainy and a bit chilly so Maura and I only went on a couple of walks. After my run I decided to go biking to the French Quarter. Maura's boyfriend Andy told me it was only a 15 minute ride but because I got lost it turned into about an hour. But it was a nice exercise to prepare me for the delicious food I was about to devour.
I first went to the this place called BUSTER'S Soul Food. Which was a joke! I ordered mac and cheese with corn bread but both were mediocre. The only good thing about the corn bread was it tasted like a sweet cake...actually it was pretty amazing. I took back the mac and cheese though. I figure...if I'm gonna do it...I gotta do it right.
Then I headed to the French Quarter where I got a veggie sandwich on marble rye with tomatoes and lettuce...
At the same place I got an order of the New Orleans speciality. BEIGNETS!
They are delicious creations covered in sugar and happiness and I was only too happy to devour them. After this, I walked around talking pictures of the city and then headed back on Maura's bike for another 40 minute ride.
It started raining so Maura came and picked me up...after some Green Tea we decided to run and have some Mexican tonight...yum.
